Career Development - 2010 Fall Semester Events

On-Campus Employment Fair: Monday, August 30th from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. in the Student Success Center, Friedley Hall.

 

Around the Town:  Wednesday, September 15th from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. in Gillmor Student Center Gym.  This event will provide information about local area businesses / organizations and possible employment opportunities. 

 

Making It Count – The Ultimate Road Trip:  Wednesday, September 29th at 10:00 a.m. in Gillmor Gym.  Sponsored by Monster.com, this interactive program seeks to help new students transition into college. 

 

Marathon Petroleum Company LLC – Marketing Major Recruit Day:  Tuesday, September 28th from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. by appointment only.  Interviews will be held in the Heritage Room, Cole Dining Hall, located in Gillmor Student Center.  Marathon recruiters will be interviewing for marketing internships and full-time opportunities. 

 

Marathon Petroleum Company LLC – Accounting Major Recruit Day:  Wednesday, September 29th from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. by appointment only.  Interviews will be held in the Heritage Room, Cole Dining Hall, located in Gillmor Student Center.  Marathon recruiters will be interviewing for accounting internships and full-time opportunities. 

 

State of Ohio Auditor’s Office:  Date TBA by appointment only and for accounting majors.  Interviews will be held in the Heritage Room, Cole Dining Hall.  A representative will be interviewing for accounting internships and full-time opportunities with the State of Ohio Auditor’s Office.  State and local regional opportunities are available.

 

Career and Discover Planning Workshop:  Wednesday, October 6th beginning at 1:00 p.m. in Franks Hall, Room 120.  This workshop will introduce students to the life-long process of career management. It all begins now with learning about self-assessment, exploring careers, and beginning the job search. Co-curricular credit will be available.

 

Optimal Resume, Cover Letter, and Interview Workshop:  Wednesday, October 20th from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. in Franks Hall, Room 120.  Earn co-curricular credit.  Learn to design a resume and cover letter with Optimal Resume, a new online resume design program.  Also, learn to enhance interviewing skills with the new online interview training program.  This workshop will be offered throughout the semester.  Please watch for e-mail messages announcing additional workshop dates.

 

U.S. Federal Government Employment Session:  Thursday, October 21st from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. in Franks Hall, Room 120.  Earn 1 hour of co-curricular credit.  Learn to complete the steps necessary to apply for any U.S. Federal Government employment opportunity. 

 

United States Air Force Base (Wright-Patterson AFB)- National Air and Space Intelligence Center Informational Visit:  Date TBA from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. in Chisholm Auditorium, Franks Hall.  Co-curricular Credit: 1 hour.  Learn about U.S. Air Force career opportunities including military and civilian employment with the National Air and Space Intelligence Center located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.

 

National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) Interview Day:  Date TBA 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. by appointment only.  Interviews will be held in the Heritage Room, Cole Dining Hall located in Gillmor Student Center.  NASIC recruiters will be interviewing for internships and full-time opportunities. 

 

Internship Interest Session:  Wednesday, October 27th from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. in Chisholm Auditorium. Earn 1 hour of co-curricular credit.  Learn to obtain an internship, internship application process and requirements and hear about internship opportunities from a panel of students and faculty members.

 

Sherwin-Williams Company Recruit Day:  Date TBA from 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. by appointment only and for business majors.  Interviews will be held in the Heritage Room, Cole Dining Hall.  A representative will be interviewing for various internships and full-time opportunities with Sherwin-Williams Company.

 

Effective Business Communications and Workplace e-Etiquette Workshop:  Wednesday, November 3rd from 2:00-3:00 p.m. in Franks Hall, Room 120.  Co-curricular will be available.  Work environments vary greatly according to industry, company culture, and the nature of the job itself.  Plan to learn how to gain a professional competitive advantage through training about expectations in the workplace, to use e-technology effectively, and to communicate with working professionals.

 

Veteran’s Remembrance Career Day:  Thursday, November 11th at 2:00 p.m. in Chisholm, Franks Hall.  Honor and celebrate Veteran’s Day with TU faculty, staff, students and the local area community members who have served in one of the branches of the US Armed Forces.  Learn about career plans, life experiences, and professional connections from honorary individuals.  Co-curricular credit will be available. This event is open to the public.

 

Ohio Criminal Justice Educational Council (OCCJE) Criminal Justice Career Fair: Date TBA from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Earn co-curricular credit.   Plan to attend the CJ Career Fair to learn about full-time, part-time, and internship employment opportunities and network with recruiting professionals.  This year, the career fair will be held at the University of Findlay located in Findlay, Ohio.  The career fair is open to all majors. 

 

Business Etiquette Seminar:  Sunday, November 14th at 6:00 p.m. in Osceola Theatre, Gillmor Student Center.  Earn co-curricular credit of 3 hours.  Please join President and Mrs. Paul Marion for an entertaining evening of learning table etiquette, social grace, and interview dining skills.

 

Graduate School Workshop: Wednesday, November 17th from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. in Franks Hall, Room 120. Earn 1 hour co-curricular credit. Learn the necessary processes/steps and information when applying to graduate school.
